DESIGN _ Main

Sound graphic design skills are a crucial part of an editor's trade. The composer's eye applies just as readily to the moving image as to the still.

When I discovered Photoshop at university I was blown away. For years I had been fighting with MS Publisher and Paint designing graphical board and war games, newsletters and props for myself and friends. Suddenly everything I had imagined doing fell instantly under my fingertips. I still find using Photoshop exhilarating every time I start it up. This enjoyment informs my design and I love playful and descriptive design that successful captures an atmosphere.

DESIGN _ Band Art

Album Covers _ I love nothing more than creating orignal album art from photographs, paintings or wholly digitally generated material. The specificity of the canvas and the art's relationship with the music, make these the most exciting and satisfying projects to work on. Many other these have been very personal projects. Band Flyers _ Promotional material for gigs and events is a highly disposable medium. This precludes it totally from any given rules or structure and permits anything. For a brief gallery of recent work, please click here.


DESIGN _ Print

Michael McLellan - A Retrospective _ Design for printed poster, postcard invitations and calogue for Michael McLellan's retrospective exhibition at Wolfson College, Oxford in October of this year. High resolution scans made by myself were manipulated in Photoshop into the images you see here.

DVD Covers _ Design for CD sized wallets, these original images are built from photos and graphics in photoshop. Take a look at a gallery of these covers here.


DESIGN _ Multimedia

Enhanced CD-rom _ Varied experience design and authoring multimedia content for a wide array of popular artists. Included as part of the single or album, and drawing on pack shots and artwork; a bespoke video screen and interface is created using a combination of Photoshop, Final Cut Pro, Macromedia Director and Flash. Educational CD-rom _ Graphic-heavy interactive educational tools/toys. One example was created with a young designer for a Birmingham Primery School.

Web Flyers _ Small, Flash-powered flyers for broadcast programs and musical events. Small enough to email, eye-catching and hyperlinkable.


DESIGN _ Motion Graphics

Enhanced CD Video Intro's _ Short motion graphic sequences created for a vast cross-section of popular artists. Made in FinalCutPro by combining footage from the promo and the artist's logo in a series of exciting and eye-catching ways. Click here to watch some examples.
