I have cut together five clips of Tooting Bizarre bands live in the studio with Anthony Chapman in High Wycombe. My favourite is 50ft Panda, which you can watch here:
50ft Panda – Variations on a Stick
THE DOGHOUSE RILEY BAND: Cheapies | Refrigerator Lover
TODGER: Technological Arm
TOOTING BIZARRE: Old Kent Road
Here are a couple of video clips of Thumpermonkey Lives! playing tracks from the album “Bring Me Sun For Breakfast” live at Storm, London in March 2007.
Four friends, from a thing called the Tooting Bizarre (co-operative of gigging musicians in London, UK), got together last Friday for our first 20 Song Game.
For me: it started okay, but I foolishly chose a system that was unfamiliar to me (Vanessa’s ProTools rig), by lunch I was running out of ideas. After lunch I dried up completely, cigarette break, thought: sod it, I’m getting out the old Korg D12 with the built-in mic, stuck my guitar in drop-D, 11 songs in 45mins, all lyrics/chords improvised in one take.
Total for the day: 22 tracks, but some I only burnt excerpts from, cos they sucked and were boring. However, the last 11 were very funny (for me).
Two of my favourites are a Carol King “cover”, Will You Still Love Me, and Quee Lord General, which was the last track I recorded. Note muse destroyed by call from mother…
Hear the whole session on LastFM.
Vanessa’s tracks from that day can be found here. I highly recommend listening to “Information Transmission Error Detection”. You will laugh. Like a drain.
Friday night Tooting Bizarre hosted a big ol’ charity gig at the Grosvenor. I played with the DHRB (we rocked) and got to visualise all night. I was helped out by some official Oxjam VJ-DVD when I got too drunk, but the new lappy (Vanessa’s) held up surprising well. Although it could do with some more RAM…
This was also Tooting Bizarre’s first birthday, and exactly a year after the first time I did live visuals (at said TB event)!
Todger have been busy. They have been gigging like monsters, and so this document has been produced to immortalise the “interim” line-up, now that Nathan “The Artful Todger” Sparks has returned to reclaim his (drum) throne. I have provided the following ridiculous artwork for the live album. The title is, of course, a tribute to the seminal Peter Frampton live album.
